O álbum ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ conta com 21 músicas em sua versão standard, sendo 13 regravações do álbum original, lançado em 2014; 3 regravações das faixas bônus “Wonderland”, “You Are In Love” e “New Romantics”, também lançadas em 2014; e 5 faixas inéditas intituladas “From The Vault”.
Em sua versão deluxe, o ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ conta com a participação especial de Kendrick Lamar em um remix da faixa “Bad Blood”, assim como na versão deluxe do álbum de 2014.
A versão exclusiva para a ‘Target’ conta com a música “Sweeter Than Fiction”, originalmente lançada em 2013 como trilha sonora do filme ‘One Chance’.
O álbum foi produzido em sua maioria por Taylor Swift, Christopher Rowe e Jack Antonoff; Imogen Heap, Noel Zancanella, Shellback e Ryan Tedder também participaram da produção de algumas faixas. Foi o primeiro projeto de Taylor desde 2020 que não conta com a presença de Aaron Dessner na produção.
